Check your food Ingredients- Carrageenan

Carrageenan can induce inflammation and lead to chronic illnesses such as diabetes, digestive disorders, heart diseases, neurological disorders and even something as serious as cancer.

I learned this years ago, I avoid this ingredient. Also in your pet food, do not let your pets consume it either. The food industry processes it in a harmful way, Govt. has been urged to ban this ingredient. It’s everywhere.

Carrageenan is a common food additive derived from red seaweed, used to thicken and stabilize products like dairy alternatives, processed foods, and even toothpaste. However, its reputation is far from pristine in terms of health. Many studies have raised concerns about carrageenan's impact.

First, it's associated with gastrointestinal problems. Carrageenan can trigger inflammation in the digestive tract, potentially leading to discomfort and irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.

Moreover, some forms of carrageenan contain a substance known as "degraded carrageenan," which has been classified as a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

Additionally, carrageenan can disrupt the gut microbiome, affecting the balance of beneficial bacteria and potentially harming the immune system. This imbalance may contribute to chronic inflammation and other health issues.

In conclusion, while carrageenan is considered safe by regulatory agencies in small quantities, it's wise to be cautious. It can lead to digestive distress, potentially pose cancer risks, and harm the gut microbiome. Opting for carrageenan-free alternatives in your diet may be a healthier choice for your well-being.
